A Note to Soledad O'Brian and CNN on "Rescued"

Your essay wrongly suggests that Marc Kenson, a Haitian  boy,  has learned faith from a missionary. Haitians and their African ancestors have worshiped God for centuries in the absence of missionaries.  In fact, it is Haitian belief in God that missionaries exploit to try to get people to believe that God is a man that once lived in the Middle East. Please be respectful of diversity in people's religious practice. Marc Kenson did not learn faith in God from missionaries. He learned faith in God from Haitian culture.  What Marc Kenson likely learned from his caregivers at the Lighthouse is that a helping hand can be extended across the man-made barriers of race, class, and religion to help a fellow human being in distress.
