President Preval Visits President Obama in Washington, D. C.
In a visit to Washington D.C., President Rene Preval thanked the American people, President Obama, and the international community for the generous support and solidarity given to Haiti in the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake of January 12th. President Preval encouraged President Obama to consider the creation of a "red helmet" U.N. force that can be ready at a moment's notice to respond to natural disasters throughout the world. Mr. Preval also advocated for the creation of a donor's trust fund for Haiti to finance the country's reconstruction.
