Young Haitian- Americans are Optimistic and Ready to Help Haiti
Responding to President Obama's call for public service, many young Haitian Americans are expressing a desire to serve in Haiti. Many are interested in volunteering to teach, to plant trees, or to provide other services, such as health care, that  are desperately needed in the Caribbean Country. Hopefully, the governments of Haiti and the U.S. will be able to establish volunteer programs like the Peace Corps to capture the talent and  good will of the young people of the diaspora. In an article in the August 29 Miami  Herald, several young people share their vision for Haiti:
